Subdivision interpolating implicit surfaces

چکیده
Interpolating implicit surfaces using radial basis functions can directly specify surface points and surface normals with closed form solutions, so they are elegantly used in surface reconstruction and shape morphing. This paper presents subdivision interpolating implicit surfaces, a new progressive subdivision tessellation scheme for interpolating implicit surfaces controlled by a triangular mesh with arbitrary topology. We use a recursive polyhedral subdivision scheme to subdivide the control triangular mesh, and the new generated vertices are mapped to the implicit surface using Newton iteration. A multiresolution surface representation is automatically built with the proposed approach. Based on this approach, a newly surface modeling tool with more flexible control is developed by blending the interpolating subdivision surfaces with the subdivision interpolating implicit surfaces. r 2003 Elsevier Ltd. Surface Design Using Locally Interpolating Subdivision Schemes
Non-uniform multivariate subdivision schemes are constructed, which generate limit functions interpolating some of the initial control points. Our schemes diier from the known interpolatory subdivision schemes, in that only some of the original control points are interpolated, and not the control points in every level. These new schemes are combinations of a non-interpolatory schemes with diier...
متن کاملInterpolating Subdivision for Meshes with Arbitrary Topology
Subdivision is a powerful paradigm for the generation of surfaces of arbitrary topology. Given an initial triangular mesh the goal is to produce a smooth and visually pleasing surface whose shape is controlled by the initial mesh. Of particular interest are interpolating schemes since they match the original data exactly, and play an important role in fast multiresolution and wavelet techniques...
متن کاملTernary butterfly subdivision
This paper presents an interpolating ternary butterfly subdivision scheme for triangular meshes based on a 1-9 splitting operator. The regular rules are derived from a C2 interpolating subdivision curve, and the irregular rules are established through the Fourier analysis of the regular case. By analyzing the eigen-structures and characteristic maps, we show that the subdivision surfaces genera...
متن کاملDeformable Solid Modeling via Medial Sampling and Displacement Subdivision
Discrete m-reps use tolerance-based, sampled medial skeleta as an underlying framework for boundaries defined by displaced subdivision surfaces. They provide local and global shape information, combining the strengths of multiscale skeletal modeling with the multi-resolution, deformation and shading properties afforded by subdivision surfaces. Hierarchically linked medial figures allow figural,...

This paper introduces a new neutral hybrid discrete (in the limit continuous) solid CAD model for meshing applications within the Integrated Computational Environments, based on subdivision surfaces. The model uses the Boundary Representation for the CAD model topology and the Butterfly Interpolating subdivision scheme for definition of underlying curves and surfaces. It is automatically derive...
